My qualifications are as follows: BA (Hons) PGCE MA Dip. Couns. BACP Accredited. UKCP.
I was trained initially as a teacher and worked in the field of education and training of children and adults for 10 years. I then trained as a person-centred counsellor at Metanoia Institute in Ealing. Since qualifying in 1998 I have worked in the fields of education, health and in private practice. I have worked as a supervisor at Childline and at Paul's Cancer Support Centre. I have helped develop and teach on the Coping with Cancer Stress / Healing Journey programme there. Click here to watch a short video on the Programme..
I abide by the BACP Code of Ethics and am an accredited and registered member of the British Association for Counselling and Therapy.
My approach is fundamentally person-centred, although I have also done some systemic and transpersonal training. This kind of counselling places great emphasis on providing a non-judgemental space for clients to discuss whatever they need to explore. You will be helped to hold a mirror up to your internal world and see what changes you want to make.
I also work as a person-centred supervisor ( see Supervision page).
I have begun the training in teaching mindfulness (run by Bangor University) and have had a mindfulness practice myself since 2011.
I am very interested in the current neuroscience and interpersonal neurobiology research emerging from the United States about how brains and minds change and try to incorporate this new thinking into my work. ( See, eg. Mindsight by Daniel Siegal 2011)
